An Early New Years Change to TTRPG Insider
Why TTRPG Insider is sending less emails in 2026, and how we hope to remain a useful and reliable source of news for fans going int othe new year.
Welcome to TTRPG Insider!
We’re the go-to source for exclusive interviews, analysis, and writing on the TTRPG industry, from Dungeons and Dragons to independent RPGs and everything in between.

I wish you all a pleasant holiday and a Merry Christmas (if you celebrate). As we approach the end of 2025 and the beginning of 2026, I wanted to give you a rapid update on the newsletter’s future.
In short, I’m going to cut my emails from three to two: one midweek that will include exclusive stories or interviews, then our weekly news roundup on the weekends. We’ll add appropriate interviews and scoops to the weekend roundup as they come in. We may also have more timely stories arrive in your inbox when they’re time-sensitive.
Why the change? In short, this newsletter remains a passion project and one that I want to keep doing, but I find myself balancing a half-dozen plates and projects. One of them has to change, and this one is (unfortunately) on the chopping block.
I'm also realizing that I had certain conceptions about the TTRPG space that didn’t pan out, and that I need to adjust how I write about/cover this space to reflect the realities of this industry better. I came into this project as a journalist looking to understand the TTRPG space better, and I certainly did. It’s a fascinating space filled with intriguing projects, but it’s also a lot smaller than observers might assume. Influencers, creators, and the companies themselves already directly speak to their fans. There’s also plenty of non-news outlet ways to learn about the space, from TikTokers to podcasters to their social media presence. This comes with its own informational side effects (particularly if the influencers have a lack of training in objectivity, which has often led to harmful results in the past). There is a need for truthful and objective coverage, but what that looks like is something I am figuring out how to do in a way that’s meaningful but also actually adds value beyond just promoting new projects. We love new projects, but there’s more to the space than that.
I still intend to keep writing about the space. I’m just adapting as best as I can to what I’ve been learning.
Anyway, those changes will go into the week of Dec. 29. We will have a news roundup this weekend (Dec. 21), take next week (Dec. 22-28) off due to Christmas break, then we’ll have an end-of-year roundup of predictions and observations from people across the industry to wrap up 2025.
Thank you again to everyone who reads! It means so much.
