GenCon: Crooked Moon, Legend in the Mist Big Winners at 2026 Ennies

Son of Oak Studios’ Legend in the Mist, Avantris Entertainment’s Crooked Moon and Darrington Press’ Daggerheart were the standout winners during the 2026 Ennies.

Crooked Moon, the horror setting written by the team at Avantris Entertainment, received five gold awards and was the fan-favorite publisher.

Legend in the Mist, the rustic fantasy TTRPG made by Amit Moshe’s Son of Oak Studios, won two gold awards and four silver awards.

Daggerheart, the fantasy alternative from Critical Role’s Darrington Press, won four gold awards and one silver in total.

Exalted Funeral Press had a surprisingly good turnout with the OSE-based Dolmenwood setting, with 4 golds in total.

A number of other publishers had standout releases. One of the ones that stands out is the inclusion of Anxious Mimic RPG’s Girlframe, a “mechsploitation TTRPG” that has gotten a notable following online and is fairly new in the TTRPG space.

For context, the Ennies operate on a judge-moderated approach for the public. A group of judges review submissions from TTRPG publishers each year, then determine a list of nominees. A public booth is then opened, allowing the public to vote for who they think is the best. This does risk it being a popularity contest; a factor that likely led to Avantris and Darrington Press’ outstanding victories.
