We broke a lot of notable news earlier this week, so this issue may feel a bit light. But fear not! Lots to talk about. New York Comic Con premiered several projects that D&D and TTRPG fans will be excited about. We also have new character editors and my interview over at Rascal News!

Enjoy! We’ll have more later this week.

All the TTRPG News at New York Comic-Con

New York Comic Con is one of the larger nerd-oriented events, which often makes it a source of news about TTRPGs and their IPs.

The most relevant reveal to date arrived at the Lucasfilm/Disney publishing panel, where Lucasfilm announced multiple details about the Star Wars/Dungeons and Dragons crossover scheduled for release in the second half of 2027.

Two books are scheduled to release, according to the team. First will be D&D | Star Wars Core Rules, followed by Tyro Squadron Adventures. Tyro Squadron is a crew of agents and adventurers operating during the original trilogy, fighting off the Empire.

Additional details about the project are expected to be revealed at a later date, including how starfighter combat will take place in the game, during a presentation at Star Wars Celebration in 2027.

No date was set, although it appears increasingly clear that we will see the two books released sometime in the second half of 2027.

Dark Horse also announced that it is releasing a trio of graphic novels based in the updated version of Dark Sun. The first book will release in April 2027 and be penned by Dan Abnett (best known for his work on the Horus Heresy and the Eisenhorn novel series in the Warhammer 40,000 setting).

Dark Horse also confirmed that a Baldur’s Gate 3 comic is in the works. It will feature Astarion in its first arc, and be written by Alyssa Wong and others. It appears likely that the other companions will also get their own arcs in the future.

New Character Editor at Roll20 Allows You to Edit Sheets Outside Game

The TTRPG VTT Roll20 will now allow you to manage your characters outside of their VTT instances via a new Game Details page.

The feature will allow players to check lists of characters, import and export characters and add them to sheets. It’s a notably useful tool for Organized Play, where you may keep a character running across multiple games and DMs.

TTRPG Insider x Rascal Crossover

I got the opportunity to appear as a guest on Rascal’s podcast last week. We discussed a number of news stories we’ve covered here, from PAX Unplugged Houston to the growing adoption of AI policies at conventions and my apparent love for Candela Obscura. Thanks to Chase Carter. As always, Rascal is a phenomenal outlet, and I try to work with them every chance I can.

We had a lot of other big news announced throughout this week.

I got to preview D&D’s vision for capturing the history of World of Warcraft at the table.

D&D and MTG are unionizing! A major development within the space.

Finally, we spoke with the team at Fantasy Grounds about their new acquisition of a 3D-printing miniature company and what it means for the company’s vision going forward.
