TTRPG Insider Update: September 2025
A quick note about where TTRPG Insider is and where we want to go.
Hello, my lovely readers.
This issue will be short as it’s less about the industry and more about this newsletter as it stands.
When I shifted TTRPG Insider toward more interviews and actual reporting in April this year, my life circumstances were a bit more stable. But as you might expect with life, things got complicated, and I was laid off from my former full-time employer.
I’m currently balancing two part-time jobs, freelancing, occasional professional game mastering, and running this newsletter, while ensuring I’m making enough each month.
That makes more meaningful reporting untenable beyond interviews with creators who have new products to offer. I have stories and content planned for the next 1-2 months, but it’s challenging for me to predict where I’ll be during that time frame, as I’m still working to ensure my needs are met every month. It’s also making it harder to enjoy the hobby that all of us readers love, since finding consistent time to sit down with others is not as easy as I’d like (something I have little doubt you all relate to.)
So what does that mean for you? I’m still weighing the options and figuring things out as we go, but the most likely result in the short term is that I may reduce my posting frequency from three posts a week to two sometime in the future. There may be other changes, but that seems the most reasonable for both me, as a writer, and you, as a reader, until I can establish more financial stability.
I will also be transparent in stating that monetization of TTRPG Insider is being considered. This newsletter is an unpaid labor of love that I genuinely enjoy, but I can only do so much of that project in my free time. Journalism has a cost, and I would appreciate any help you can offer if and when we pursue that path. However, I also want it to be something that you find truly helpful, whether it is more reporting, in-depth writing, or multimedia creations. So stay tuned as I figure out what that looks like.
