Eberron Creator Keith Baker Experiments with Daggerheart in "Ecto-Punk"-inspired Eidolon: The Ghost Market

What happens when ghosts power industry? that's the questions that Keith Baker intends to explore with his new Daggerheart setting, which he describes as a "first pancake" for exploring the ruleset.

This week is LOOOOADED with interviews for your enjoyment and delight. Today is no exception, as I feature my chat with Eberron creator Keith Baker and Jenn Ellis at Twogether Studios. The pair are bringing a new Daggerheart setting to life in their Backerkit campaign Eidolon: The Ghost Market.

TTRPG Insider spoke with Baker and Ellis at GenCon about Eidolon, other work on Daggerheart, and more!

Keith Baker, the man behind Eberron, is expanding beyond D&D to create an “Ecto-punk” setting for Daggerheart fans as the first taste of his work in the growing setting.

Baker was one of the initial names tapped to make official Daggerheart supplements during Darrington Press’ announcements at GenCon 2025. It was a decision that inspired confidence among fans, especially if a veteran game designer like Baker was willing to work on an early project like Daggerheart

Not much has been revealed since. Baker confirmed to TTRPG Insider that he is “super excited” to work with Darrington in the future, but that their work has been delayed for the time being. He wasn’t willing to say if his book was one of the six anticipated releases that Darrington Press expected to release in the next three years.

In the meantime, Baker is diving into Daggerheart with a new “ecto-punk” setting called Eidolon: The Ghost Market under Darrington Press’ Community Gaming License. He describes the project as a “first pancake” to explore how Daggerheart operates as a collaborative setting and get a feel for how it plays out.

Eidolon is a “gothic industrial noir setting for Daggerheart where industry is fueled by spirits and hope is driven by heroes,” the campaign states. The setting has been in development for the last ten years, Baker told TTRPG Insider, with occasional small adventures teased and explored there in the meantime. After some tests, he found that Daggerheart was a perfect setting to use for the game.

Eidolon is an ancient city built upon an old, haunted cemetery, Baker explains, and many of those spirits are forced to linger on earth because strong emotions like despair and hopelessness bind them to the land. Some people in Eidolon have figured out how to harness those spirits for their benefit, to the point of using those spirits as a power source to drive their own initiatives. It’s also empowered some residents to rise to the top as oligarchs, abusing those souls for their own benefit.

Eidolon’s distinct flavor will incorporate hints of gothic horror, 19th-century industrialization, and a hint of Ghostbusters.

That distinct flavor colors its way throughout gameplay. Players who use magic in the setting are likely also drawing on the power of those ghosts, which will have unique aesthetic influences on how the game plays. For example, Baker noted that a fireball cast in the setting may actually be just a “bomb of screaming ghosts.” The setting is designed for all backgrounds and classes, but each will adopt its own distinct necromantic and gothic aesthetic in the process.

The ghostly nature also offers some interesting story elements. For example, a player’s weapon may be powered by a ghost…is that ghost related to their character? What are the effects that the ghost’s emotional state may have on them?

The setting book will include six new communities and transformations for players to use, as well as six new environments for storytellers to include.

Run a Crime Gang and Host Parties for Evil in Eidolon’s Two Campaign Frames

Twogether Studios

Eidolon provides the foundation for two distinct campaign frames, i.e., the unique structures that Daggerheart offers DMs to tell their stories.

The first is Boneriggers, a setting where players will act as a crime gang in this city powered by ghosts, where they’ll attempt to fight back against the forces as adventurers. Ellis describes this framework as Peaky Blinders meets Sweeney Todd, where players will work together under the cover of a local shop to pursue their goals.

The second framework, called The Catering Crew, is what Baker and Ellis describe as a K-Pop Demon Hunter-Bridgerton crossover, in which players have to break into the homes of the five families controlling Eidolon and seal the gates that hold back demonic forces. How do they break in? Under the cover as caterers and party hosts.

“It’s the idea where you have to run a party for Darth Vader, Sauron and Voldemort and you have to make it the best….” Baker explained. Two-thirds of a game may be spent managing the party, while the other third is spent defeating the families’ forces and sealing off those ancient demons.

Each of the frames comes with five adventure arcs for DMs to use to tell stories here as well as a full adventure for those wanting to dive deep into Eidolon’s lore.

The project is now available for crowdfunding on Backerkit.

Baker continues to balance a number of projects outside of Daggerheart. He is working on a new setting for Brotherwise Games’ Plotweaver ruleset, which will crowdfund in 2027.

"Infinite is a truly unique setting; the experience at the table will change with every session," said Keith Baker, co-owner of Twogether Studios, in a press statement. "Jenn and I believe that Plotweaver is the perfect system to deliver this experience, and we can't wait to share it." Not much was revealed about Infinite, and Baker declined to say more during our interview.

Baker also continues to produce material for Eberron. That includes his latest release, a western-themed expansion titled Frontiers of Eberron: Quickstone. Eberron remains an IP owned and operated by Wizards of the Coast, and Baker continues to expand it through his books and Patreon updates. There is a planned campaign book for Eberron scheduled for publication by D&D, although Baker is not involved.
