Tracy Hickman Previews a Dragonlance World Guide for D&D in 2029

Tracy Hickman on Facebook
Dragonlance author Tracy Hickman posted a preview of D&D’s plans for what appears to be one of the first entries in the Icons line.
“"Since Monday, Margaret Weis, Joe Manganiello and I have been meeting with Dan Ayoub and the incredible D&D team outlining the world book for Dragonlance as well as future product beginning in 2029,” Hickman said in a Facebook post. “The future is going to be filled with epic adventure!"
The post included a picture of a whiteboard containing a wide spectrum of ideas around Krynn and Dragonlance. Not much was said, although it appears to be a fairly elaborate scheme.
It’s also the first look at the Icons line. The project got a lot of hype at the D&D keynote at GenCon but very few details were released. Books written by Hickman and Weis as well as Luke Gygax and RA Salvatore are expected to release, but no additional details were revealed as of August 2026. Icons is a separate line from the main set of releases by D&D focused around its Seasons series as well as the third-party supplements building on established settings.

Kobold Press Designer Joins D&D Team In Latest Hire

Kobold Press
A new game designer who helped make Tales of the Valiant is joining the Dungeons and Dragons team.
Celeste Conowitch, who has served as a major part of Kobold Press’ team, announced that she was leaving the company and joining Wizards of the Coast as a senior game designer on Tuesday.
Hey cool kids, I'm excited to share that I've joined the Wizards of the Coast D&D Team as their new Senior Game Developer! It has been a strange and wondrous journey here---but I'm raring to face all the new thrills & challenges that lie ahead ✨⚔️✨ #WotCStaff

“Celeste has been an integral part of Kobold Press for years, leaving her mark across some of the company’s most ambitious projects,” Kobold Press wrote in a blog post announcing Conowitch’s departure. “From the shadowy realms of Book of Ebon Tides to the creation of Tales of the Valiant, her work has helped shape the games and worlds we know and love.
“As the lead designer of Tales of the Valiant, Celeste helped guide the game from its earliest design work through its launch, working alongside the design team and community to build an extension of the 5th Edition Creative Commons D&D ruleset. Her passion for creating a game that balances compatibility and new ideas helped shape the ToV ruleset we know and love today.”
It’s the latest hire for WOTC, as it continues to expand its team and present a grander vision for the game.

Season 3 of Dungeon Masters Begins
Dungeon Masters, D&D’s ongoing AP for promoting its new ‘seasons’ content, is launching season three this week with a focus on Azeroth and the World of Warcraft setting.
It was accompanied by a short free adventure based on Dire Maul, one of the iconic dungeons from Azeroth and World of Warcraft, which offered first looks at how demons operate in the setting.
WoWhead also previewed the classes played by the cast. It’s a Horde run, I see.
Early previews of the dungeons featured in the book have also been released via influencers this week, offering a look at level spectrums for them. That coverage is likely going to expand in coming days.

Paizo Introduces Third Party Content To Organized Play

Paizo announced on September 21st that it is opening a special program for players to submit fan-created scenarios through its Infinite program to be considered for Pathfinder and Starfinder Society play.
"Our goal is to grow the number of Organized Play offerings available to the community by welcoming fan-created content,” Paizo associate publisher Thurston Hillman wrote in a blog post. “We'll be watching closely how this change affects the community, and we're looking forward to working with our Infinite creators, Venture-Officers, and campaign participants on how best to adjust in the months ahead.”
The scenarios will face similar scrutiny as Infinite submissions usually do, including whether the content is being published on a regular basis. It will also have to fit a particular design style, as detailed on the Pathfinder Infinite website.
Hillman also confirmed that the company is updating its release plans; something that had been previously mentioned after the company laid off multiple staff.
